DescriptionHela, pen and ink on Bristol board, 11x17.It all begun on July 24, 2014. Some time after receiving a beautiful commission of my girlfriend (now my wife), a deal as smooth as silk, I contacted Larry Stroman for a larger order of four commissions, three of’em based on Kirby characters and one of a couple of the Tribe girls: he quoted a price, I agreed with no haggling and sent the funds via Paypal on the same day. The commissions were delivered 4 years later, when Larry brought’em with him at SDCC and left’em with a friend of mine who managed to finally get’em in my hands today, September 6, 2018. In the middle, a couple scans of finished pieces (on March 12, 2015) and a lot of incommunication and procrastination and silence on Larry’s side and a number of emails, Messenger messages and Facebook posts on his page on my side. I always kept it civil with no cursing or insults, but I minced no words because one just doesn’t go incommunicado for all that time. My posts attracted the attention of Larry’s agent and of a buddy (and business partner) of him, who tried to get the ball rolling, to no avail. All of a sudden I received a third scan on February 4, 2018, with just a few words of accompaniment, then the last scan on July 19, 2018, when we finally agreed to have them delivered at a booth in SDCC. Any and all of those scans sent me in a tizzy because they were just gorgeous and I always made sure to tell Larry how happy and excited I was about’em and now they’re finally in, scanned and ready to be framed. Now, would I recommend doing business with Larry? With him personally, nope, unless one is prepared to face a long, LONG wait and a frustrating lack of communication. Through his agent, yes, absolutely, because Larry’s a great artist and his commissions are just awesome and an unbelievable value for your money. I don’t think Larry’s in any way a bad person or a scammer (like other so-called “artists” around), but he should definitely improve on his organizational and communication skills. Finally, would I order more commissions from him? Hell yeah!!! For some reason, I’m not as pissed at him for the delay and frustration as I am with others I commissioned never to see my money again, and that’s likely because I LOVE his artwork and believe in the fact that he’s a good man who just needs to get his act together. Here's to more in the (hopefully near) future! Social/Sharing |

This is my favorite of the 4 commissions you requested Enrico! Just fantastic! I'm so glad you finally got your art after waiting so long! It's going on 4 years for me and looking more and more like he won't even deliver what I paid for.

Probably my fav' also. For the somewhat evocative mood. Glad the deal turned out ok in the end ;)

Fantastic. Contrary to other Hela commissions, which just aim at turning the character into a sex goddess (come on!) this is beautiful, evocative, moody and captures the character perfectly. I am glad it turned so nice!

Definitely the best of the 4 - with the clouds, headdress and background selling it. Seems to recall one of her rare Kirby drawn appearances in Thor #154.

A great piece, Enrico. Plus now there's been enough time passed to all but completely dull the pain of the getting it
