Description

As I sit here I'm recovering from illness and an operation. (recovery is tough, but prognosis good!) I'm reading a lot about doing something nice for yourself, so I decided to set out and find the perfect piece of (affordable) art.

Things are so dark in storytelling these days... though better than a few years ago I think. So I'm gravitating towards reading comics from the Silver Age where topics are more hopeful in spirit.

I started reading some old Superman and Batman issues. They were so well crafted, inspirational, and had an air of happiness to them. Well, there's not a lot of Dick Sprang, Stan Kaye, Charles Paris, Ray Burnley, or even Curt Swan art from that era out there. But I did find the cover to DC's 2017 TPB, "Worlds Finest, The Silver Age Volume 1" by the GREAT Michael Cho!

Michael captures the buoyant optimism of the era while clearly holing a reverence for it that so many of us share. And look at those smiling faces!

Just what I need.

There's nothing about this piece that doesn't impress. From the jaunty angles of Superman and Batman's arms, the smiles on their faces, and their collective soaking up of all that adulation.

Cho can do no wrong and he was the perfect artist to execute these covers.

Michael Cho's work on these covesr have been abosultely beautiful. He captures the characters well.
