Description

This is a really, really huge (and hugely impressive) piece and the scan does not do it justice. I hope that the auction house will not mind my borrowing its description, as follows.

Popular X-Men artist Greg Land created this piece featuring many of Marvel's most well-known characters to help promote the U.S. Postal Service's 2007 release of a sheet of 20 stamps featuring images of Marvel heroes and famous covers. Land even worked Stan Lee into the piece. Land infuses the artwork with a sense of joy, showing that even typically dour characters, such as the Sub-Mariner, can smile at the idea of being turned into a postage stamp! This large (18.75" x 25") piece is executed on two large boards and four small boards, taped together from the reverse.

Along with Lee, the piece features Wolverine, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Silver Surfer, the Fantastic Four, Captain America, the Sub-Mariner, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, Phoenix, Elektra, and Doctor Strange.
