Description
First, I justify including this because it was done by Orson Lowell, a staff artist at Life Magazine, a humor magazine of the turn of the 19th to 20th Centuries and he did hundreds of comics. Besides, I bought it from a comic book art dealer.

Orson Lowell was a contemporary of all the the giants of the golden age of illustration and associated with more of those greats. His pen and ink art of the period was routinely compared to that of Gibson. The difference between the two artists' can be seen in the greater linework of this piece and the more delicate nature of the girl than is seen in most of the Gibsons.

This piece is fully inked on 16" by 23" Strathmore board with an image just over 12" by 19". On the back are the notations, "Miss G.B. Lane", "Crowell Publishing Co," and "Sep 08", the last is crossed out.

Great piece! I saw this when Ken had it during a visit to his house and almost made a run at it myself. Lowell's inking is superb-it definitely compares to Gibson and the other great good girl ink artists of the period. Benno
