DescriptionI am ecstatic to add this incredibly detailed TARZAN cover to my collection. This cover was penciled and inked in 1975 by the great Russ Manning, from the story titled: "Tarzan in Savage Pellucidar!" This nice cover features Tarzan battling 2 saber tooth tigers, with the help of a woolly mammoth! Tarzan in Savage Pellucidar was a forty-eight-page graphic album, written by Mike Royer and drawn by Russ Manning, that was published in numerous European countries. In this story, Tarzan enters Pellucidar in a submarine down through bottomless Loch Ness. There he fights Hooja the Sly One and the Sagoths as the Mahars try to regain their Great Secret. Cover has an actual drawn image area measuring 12.75 by 16.75 inches, on a 14.25 by 18.5-inch art board!This art represents a milestone in my collection. I have been a fan of Tarzan since I was a very young boy and being able to acquire this cover means more than words can say. I can remember as a young boy watching the old B&W Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies on TV on Saturday mornings with my mother and Tarzan of the Apes was the first book, I can remember reading. Considering that Russ Manning was such a brilliant and prolific artist – he didn’t produce a vast amount of cover art so acquiring this gem is a high-lite for me. I love this! Russ Manning is just fantastic! I love his Tarzans and his Star Wars strips, especially! This piece is fantastic! The action is fantastic, and the rendering is beautiful!
