DescriptionDonald receives a voodoo doll meant for Uncle Scrooge, and is pricked by its poison thorn. Fearing that he will soon shrink to the size of a rat, he and the boys hasten to Africa to find the antidote. Here Donald sees what the future may hold for him if he is unsuccessful in his quest when he meets Professor Cornelius McCobb, Dean of Mystic Lore at the University of Ypsilanti, who was previously shrunk by Old Foola Zoola the witch doctor. The scene is taken from the cover of Dell's Four Color #238. August, 1949. It appears that this is the final drawing used to apply to the canvas for both paintings: Plate 46 (#60) IN VOODOO LAND 20"x 16" and Plate 56 (#85) VOODOO HOODOOED 18"X 14". The characters do not change size in the paintings but the lush jungle foliage and flowers change to elicit different feelings.Social/Sharing |
