DescriptionAs many of us know, the Peter Parker of the Ultimate Universe died in Ultimate Spider-Man #160 (2011).A couple months later, the character of Miles Morales was introduced in Ultimate Fallout issue #4. At the end of 2011, Miles became the new Spider-Man in "Ultimate Comics: All-New Spider-Man #1." No-one knew how long this new hero would last, but I know I was very excited when the year 2014 brought him his first self-titled run in "Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man." Early in this run, Miles encountered a very much alive Peter Parker, who could not explain his reappearance, and who did not intend to return to his former life. Together, the two Spider-Men defeated Norman Osborn, who was also revealed to be alive, but who was killed during the course of the story. After witnessing Miles courageously battle Osborn, Peter acknowledged Miles a worthy successor, and decided to retire from superheroics for a life with his family and Mary Jane. To this day, there has been no explanation as to how Peter Parker came back to life, which is on one hand frustrating, and on the other hand, delightfully enigmatic. It seems we might never know whether this was the actual Peter Parker or some kind of clone/doppelganger. Regardless, the whole story was about passing the torch from one Spider-Man to the next, and I love how this cover (with its battle imagery) symbolizes this. Social/Sharing |

Always like this one, Paul - great battle image between the Spider-Men! And good timing as the new Spidey animated film featuring these 2, among others, comes out next month! Congrats!
