Description
I can safely say now Tradd Moore is one of my all-time favorite artists. I've only been in original comic art collecting for a very short amount of time and for the most part, often find myself drawn to the nostalgic characters and titles of my youth. Yet, when it comes to Tradd, I'm often blown away by his pages' ability to convey a story or message without the need for a commercial title or story attached.

This page is a perfect example of that connection. Needless to say, Polarity wasn't a household name of titles as it was a small limited series published by Boom! Comics some years back. But when I came across this cover, it really spoke to me on a personal level as a man fell into his own mouth surrounded by grippy teeth and pills consumed by all that was around him. I was so touched by the cover that I had to read the series, which was surprisingly relatable in every sense.

In fact, the character so was similar to my own experience 7 years ago when I had suffered from depression after being overwhelmed with work and the world. I went to a number of therapists wishing not to have to get myself into medication but there didn't seem to be an option outside of that so I eventually caved in. During the time I was under the power of the prescription drugs, I felt just like the main character who's super powers were actually made dormant. While upon living it up again, he was able to get his supernatural powers back again to fight crime another day!

Anyhow, I had a chance to cross paths with Tradd at NYCC 2018 and he was such a good dude. We talked a slot about his style integrating that of Manga and allowing the flow of his lines to help with leading the story. One thing he told me was that at every page, he always imagined if his visual storytelling would still work if it was in another language, or no language at all? Well, it sure does and it only shows as he continues to mix up his styles and evolve to be a Tradd Moore that I'm sure will be recognized as one of the greats in the years to come.
