DescriptionSleeper, by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips, is one of my very favorite comic books of all time. Ed Brubaker told a story that nestled so perfectly inside and behind the scenes of the Wildstorm Universe, it seemed like he must have been alongside the Image founders as they created the Authority, Gen13, WildCATS, Stormwatch, and more. I love this page! It features the main character Holden and his friend Genocide Jones, as Genocide becomes enraged at news coverage of The Authority. His commentary is such a perfect encapsulation of the ethos of this book, and it places him so well inside the established Wildstorm Universe, where The Authority is seen by the public to be in charge of the world. Sleeper is a spy story about professional criminal clandestine operatives-- it has to stand in direct contrast to spandex superheroes.
