Edward Gorey cartoonist sketch 1993

After years of writing to Gorey and even trying to call him on the phone, I finally decided to go to his house and knock on his front door. He very graciously invited me into his home (which is now a museum in his honor on Cape Cod), and we drank tea and chatted for about an hour (surrounded by his seven cats and rooms full of books and strange collected objects). Gorey mailed me this original pen & ink drawing of a "figbash" character shortly thereafter.
