Absolutely stunning illustration from the completed but never published Robin Hood Portfolio by Sam Glanzman (pencils & inks) which was going to be published by Roger Broughton’s A-Plus Comics circa 1990.

This drawing depicts the Sheriff of Nottingham wielding a dagger while sitting in a chair. Behind him is a scene of demons attacking an old man!

An exceptional piece by one of the comic book masters, this could easily be passed off as a classic book illustration of 100 years ago. It’s pretty impressive!

Glanzman was also commissioned to illustrate a Robin Hood series for Roger Broughton's A-Plus comics, though apparently only the first of four completed issues of the Thief of Sherwood series was ever published.

Unsigned. Original measures 11” x 17-1/2” and is in Very Good condition. An inch-long strip was added along the top of the page to lengthen it and there is a piece of white tape running across it. There is also tape on back to hold it in place. This is very minor, the piece looks great! There are also some glue stains on the back where the art had at one time been glued to a board and later removed from it.

A living legend, Sam Glanzman, is truly a man who needs no introduction. His career has spanned over 50+ years from the Golden Age of Comics to the present day. Some of the series bearing his unique style are KONA, US.S. STEVENS, JUNGLE TALES OF TARZAN, HAUNTED TANK, COMBAT, HERCULES, ATTU, JONAH HEX, A SAILOR’S STORY and hundreds of short stories for various comics.
