DescriptionShown here are two dailies from the story, "The Book of Worlds". This story ran as numbers 5075-5173 and appeared in the Daily Expres from 17 Sept 1970 through 10 January 1971. In this story, Timka is a princess of Kandatura. Here, the evil Caliphan has invaded the city and King Ortano has decided to send his daughter to earth to find the Book of Worlds to save them. Here, she has made it to Earth where Jeff Hawke has found her... as she watches Caliphan destroy her ship and kill her crew leaving here abandoned.The spaceship in the last panel of H5120 reminds me of the ship from The Day The Earth Stood Still. This was one of the many stories Sydney drew employing a beautiful alien when Hawke (unlike many US newspapers of the time) took on a very exotic flavor. This example shows a nice close-up of Timka and Sydney Jordan's use of pen and ink in a very photo-realistic style. Amazing how the males are always in full uniform and the beautiful girl is in a bikini! Social/Sharing |
