Great piece, Rose was one of the first to really merchandise her characters (kewpies) she was very financially successful in her day. Thanks for sharing!

I live in Japan and Kewpies are still ubiquitous here (most famously, perhaps, because Kewpie is the namesake and symbol of a brand of mayonnaise that's been around for about 100 years now), but I only really learned about their origin after reading Trina Robbins' Pretty in Ink book. It's amazing this still exists, and the art is a wonderful hybrid of cartooning and book illustration.
