Description
Looks like someone decided to "borrow" Dave Johnson's idea from a 1995 Madman Trading Card set and turn the Banana Splits into evil murderers.

Coming to Blu-ray this summer and SYFY later this year. I'm not a horror fan at all, but this I gotta see.

There's a funny story behind this piece of art. I met Dave when I worked for Image Comics from 1993-1994 and in 1995 I helped him finance his trip from Atlanta to Los Angeles for the San Diego Comic Con that year by setting up Dave with 4 store appearances in the area the weekend before the con. The store each paid a small fee to cover his costs of airfare and lodging in SDCC, it was a lot cheaper to do the show back in the 90's than it is today. On the way down to one of his store appearances in Orange County, that Randy Martin set up, Dave is telling both of us how he hoped that Mike Allred wouldn't be at SDCC because he had promised him a Madman piece for an upcoming trading card set and hadn't even started the piece. When we arrived at the store, the first person behind the door waiting for Dave to arrive was none other than Mike Allred!

He was down from Oregon to visit his in-laws, if I remember correctly, before the show and of course he asked Dave it he had done the Madman trading Card piece. Dave bluffed and told him he had Madman back at my place, where he was crashing, because he had no idea Mike would be at the store signing. This now left Dave with 2-3 days to crank out a piece of art to present to Mike at the show and this is what he came up with. Dave was nice enough to gift it to me for letting him crash at my place.
