Description15" x 10" image area. Ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board. Iron Man #222 Page 4 original art (Marvel 1987. Featuring the first full appearance of Tony Stark's new modern Malibu mansion. Mark D. Bright and Bob Layton.When Stark Industries relocated its headquarters to Southern California, Tony Stark commissioned a custom-designed mansion located on a seaside cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Posing as Iron Man, Stark used his Iron Man armor to cut into the bedrock to create Stark's private lab area. The mansion served as both Tony Stark's primary residence and Iron Man's base of operations. The Stark Mansion, also known as Tony Stark's Malibu Mansion, or simply the Malibu Mansion, is an advanced and modernized mansion created and owned by Tony Stark. It is where he lives, along with his personal assistant and now current girlfriend, Pepper Potts, as well as his personal friend Happy Hogan, with his advanced personal computerized A.I., J.A.R.V.I.S.. The Retreat was designed as a smart house with computer systems integrated into and regulating various aspects of the home. The mansion was energy self-sufficient by using solar energy converters and internal water purification systems. To protect the residence, the mansion can be locked down to be airtight, which prevents the use of a working fireplace. Additionally, bulletproof glass in used throughout the mansion. Great page. I love Bright’s Iron Man and this looks exactly like the mansion that slid into the ocean in one of the very few good scenes in Iron Man 3.

I was amazed and glad how close to the comic story the film depicted this mansion. Makes this piece all the more special, I think. Thanks.

Very cool! Nice intro of Tony’s new high tech digs and some great shots of the Silver Centurion Iron Man, especially the head shot at the top right! Love this era of the character. Congrats!

Bob's zip-a-tone with inks technique really differentiates this art and makes the Bright/Layton combination really special.

FANTASTIC! A few years ago, I had Mark do a couple of commissions for me and I made sure he added the cliffside mansion to a Silver Centurion piece. I love the design that much- so you'll know how much I love your page! Congrats on such a pivotal introduction!

Yowza! What a terrific Iron Man page! Gorgeous storytelling by Mark Bright and Bob Layton. I love the way this opens with a medium shot of Iron Man flying off from Stark Enterprises, then a wide shot of IM flying aong the highway, then a close-up of Iron Man's mask and finally...A massive half-page splash of a tricked-out Super-Yacht--Stark's new home! Classic build-up to a big moment. Nicely done.
