Ramayan: Kumbhakarna

Part of my Ramayan Series of illustrations. Kumbhakarna was Ravan's gigantic brother who had the curse / Boon of sleeping for strict straight months and then waking up and feasting for a day before going off to zzzz again.

When Ravan started losing his generals in battle, he got desperate and wanted to field Kumbhakarna. So, he asked his soldiers to wake him before the 6 months were up, which unfortunately, wasn't an easy task.

They poked him with weapons, played loud music and walked elephants all over him, to no avail.

PS: In the end, someone had the bright idea to cook his meals, smelling which, the mighty giant finally woke up.
