Ramayan: Surpankha

Part of my Ramayan Series of illustrations. This is the incident that started it all.

Surpankha, in love with Ram, assumes the form of a temptress to woo him. He refuses and tells her, his younger brother, Lakshman is alone, he's already got Sita. Lakshman, also rebuffs her. Enraged she screams, " you will accept me once I kill Sita !" as she crouches to spring and switches to her demoness form.
Lakshman however is faster, one flash of his blade and Surpankha loses her nose
