Description

Batman: The Dark Knight #19 Cover Original Art (DC,2013). Batman stands tall over the Mad Hatter in a canal in this tremendous wrap around cover by stud artist Ethan Van Sciver for the "Pool of Tears" story. The Dark Knight image captures the brooding powerful look that Van Sciver is known for, and the details in the environment, including Mad Hatter, are astounding. This wrap around cover was published in 2 versions, one in full color with the Batman half visible on the standard comic cover, and a black and white sketch variant with the Mad Hatter on the cover. Created in ink over blue line pencils on 2 DC Comics Bristol boards that are taped together like a Double Splash page. Total image area is 22" x 17".

David, that is actually a Batman statue. It's Van Sciver's take on the "Colossus of Rhodes", the ancient statue that was built and stood over the harbour in Athens, Greece and was designated as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Really love this one, both in style and idea!
