Description

One of the over 300 humorous illustrations Jacovitti did in the mid '70s, inspired by six famous Emilio Salgari novels.
It's from the novel "Le Tigri della Malesia" and depicts Lady Marianna Guillonk (called The Pearl of Labuan), young wife of pirate Sandokan (called The Tiger of Malaysia), as an angel, after her unfortunate and dramatic death by gunshot.

The illustration is done in pen and ink (please note Jacovitti's unique inking style) but it's watercolored on the back, so that if you hold it to the light you can see the final published version.

It's signed "JAC", with the classic fishbone, and features some of the funny things that the brilliant artist was usually putting here and there in his comic pages and illustrations: hair combs, salami - here a winged one, of course - and dice :)
