Description

In 2007 Bill Presing painted 100 watercolor/acrylic originals to be sold in copies of his book “Belle Du Jour” as bookplates. He sold 70 of these books at SDCC and in 2008 sold 25 through his website with the remaining 4 going to an exhibition at Gallery Arludik and 1 being kept for himself as a memento. These pieces were then collected in his book “Bookplate Betties”. Bill’s work hardly ever shows up on the market so if I see a piece and like it I will usually purchase it without hesitation if I agree with the price. When this piece showed up I couldn’t help myself. I had been wanting one of the Bookplate Betties and had only seen a few show up but none that I couldn’t live without. That wasn’t the case with this one. And would you believe it if I told you that this beauty was still entombed in her book prison. Well no sooner than I had opened the book she was released to be enjoyed. How anyone could leave this beautiful piece locked away I’ll never know.

When you think of Bill’s work the first thing that comes to mind is cheesecake. Mmmm cheesecake. I didn’t have a real pinup piece by him yet and this is a wonderful example. This beauty just screams Bill Presing and I absolutely love her. She’s cute and curvy as a Bill Presing Girl should be. Who doesn’t love a cute redhead? Her expression and pose is perfect. As is the beautiful color palette. The details he included are wonderful. Just a fun piece and another beauty by Bill that I am thrilled to have.

The piece was published 2 times in the book "Bookplate Betties". It is seen on page 122 as beautiful linework and the finished piece on page 164.
