DescriptionI loved Bendis’ Avengers era. His love for B & C-listers characters from the 70/80s, which I share, materialized into his run by incorporating heroes in the team nobody would have dared to include before him. I also believe that his run laid the groundwork for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as crappy or so-so as it is) as we know it today. I hope Comic History will get him the recognition he deserves.Among those characters was Brother Voodoo which I always liked for the odd, dangerous magic vibe. Much like Hellstorm, he was to me the dirty side of the regular Magical Marvel Universe (i.e. Dr Strange). Stuart Immonen (with Wade) may be (one of?) the best modern storyteller(s)s in the industry (worldwide?) nowadays and his artistic pairing with Bendis made for a fantastic read. Here this is it. Voodoo Bro is giving his life to fight off the tentaculous Chtulu-esque Agamotto. The splash is obviously fantastic, especially the use of light to convey the radiating blast. But I also love the first and even more the fourth panels. The use of horizontal panels plays well against the splash and give little moments of information to complete the intensity of the scene (such as a genuine tear of the manipulative Dr Strange-please see the previous page I posted for a glimpse of that aspect of the character). RIP Voodo Bro. Who will be dead at least 5 minutes…Issues-I meant issues! In these days and ages of (NON) events. Then again it would be logical for a character dealing with the deads on a daily basis to not stay dead. This was a page that had been on my to-buy list for years and I had to rush commit to it with the announcement of Tom Fleming ending the art selling part of his business. I actually considered a third Voodoo bro page but decided to be reasonable and more diversified in my Immonen buying. (thanks for years of great transactions, Tom). Social/Sharing |

Sincere congratulations, F M; this one had also been on my to-buy list for quite a while, and I would always get waylaid by a different Immonen page when I would swing past to pull the trigger on it. VERY delighted it has a wonderful home among the rest of your incredible collection!
