Description

A grail piece - artwork from Al Hirschfeld, one of the greatest caricaturists ever. This piece features Menasha Skulnik, who acted in a large number of plays on Broadway, in NYC Yiddish theaters, and on TV in the mid-twentieth century. The art is undated, but was likely done in 1945 or shortly thereafter, as the art incorporates 'Nina' five times, but there isn't a number next to Hirschfeld's name. He started drawing a random number of Nina's into his art after his daughter was born in 1945, and subsequently started adding the number of instances it could be found in the art as part of his signature.
