11.75x16.5" artboard has pen and ink original art by longtime DC Comics artist Nick Cardy (1920-2013), known for his work on "Aquaman, Teen Titans" and others. Art is for cover of "Superboy" #197, published by DC Sept. 1973. Cardy's art features full body images of Superboy and Legion of Super-Heroes members Chameleon Boy, Duplicate Girl, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Ultra Boy and Element Lad fighting a rampaging Timberwolf. Superboy's face has been covered w/cut out featuring altered pen and ink original art. Art area measures approx. 8.5x10" w/top third being blank for title marquee. Top margin has inked title, issue number and publication date w/faint handwritten details repeated at upper right corner. Upper left corner has two staples w/small remnant from paper overlay or note. Back has stamped work order w/details filled in in ink. Bottom margin has been trimmed. Artboard has some glue staining around Superboy's face as applied and some scattered white correctional fluid. Artboard has some faint margin aging but could be matted for VF display.
