DescriptionContinuing my Black Panther (BP) start to 2020 with #3 here by Scott Hepburn!I’ve really been enjoying Scott’s work the last couple of years. Mostly it’s the overall dynamic nature – there’s so much energy, especially in the action scenes, in both his panel pages and pin up stuff. Kinda like the images are actually moving – I love that quality in comic art. Also, he’s got some meticulous yet gritty line work with his inks, which have resulted in some great looking pieces, particularly on his Drax and Spider-Man/Deadpool runs. And this commission! I’ve had a BP vs. Klaw commission on my mind on and off for a bit and recently thought Scott would be a great choice for that kind of battle image as opposed to a single figure commish. That energy I was talking about is clearly there, with that falling downward strike, helped along by the speed lines in the background. I like the subtle splotches on BP that kind of function as grey tones, as well as the overall detailing on Klaw’s left arm and sonic cannon. The graffiti-ish lettering used for both characters’ names is a nice capping touch. Hope y’all like, and stay tuned for more BP in the next month! Also got a nice published Hepburn cover I’ll be posting at some point. And if you haven’t checked his work out yet, I’d recommend getting to it! Social/Sharing |

What an excellent piece, with amazing inks! There is definitely a ton of energy to it, and with those speed lines and downward motion, they could be battling as they plumment down the side of a mountain or waterfall. BP is landing a debilitating strike that looks lightning fast. Klaw will be feeling THAT one in the morning.

Mountain, waterfall, midair, any/all of the above?! In any case, the Murderous Master of Sound's in trouble! Thanks, Paul, and all, for the comments! Really happy with this addition to the BP coleccion!

Wow!! What a great example of Scott's energetic style! I love when he goes in with a pen and adds some crosshatching and detail on Klaw's arm to compliment the big bold brush strokes. You have an amazing collection!

Thanks, Anthony! Seeing your 2 character Hepburn commissions here on CAF was definitely one of the things that prompted me to go with him for this one. Congrats on your pieces as well - as you say, ton of energy!
