Description

Growing up we read Conan in all its various titles pretty religiously. Barry's work was incredible as was Big John's of course but I remember Gil's version with a real fondness with Roy Thomas often writing to Kane's strength with sword swinging action.

It's a peculiar thing walking into a used bookstore and spotting a piece of comic art on display. It's rarer still when one's able to talk the proprietor into parting with it. This is from one of those lucky days for me.

Besides Kane's wonderful use of anatomy, he was able to convey such a strong weight in the figure with a terrific combination of line and texture. This is one of those pieces. Congratulations!

Your story almost reminds me of how I began my art collecting career about 40 years ago. Walkled into a cominc shop and saw some small drawings on the wall. Had absolutely no idea what they were. As for Mr. Kane, the very first artist whose style I learned to identify on sight. If it was a Kane cover or issue, I knew it before I even read the name. And my first favorite artist before I discovered Neal Adams. Congrats on finding this hidden treasure.
