DescriptionI don't quite remember the first comic book I read, but I know which comic book it is that I credit my becoming a comic book fan: Adventure Comics #465. At the time, it was an anthology book and this issue featured the Flash in superheroic action, Deadman in an urban adventure, Aquaman under the seas, and (what made the biggest impression on me) an wide-ranging case for the Justice Society of America.This is an interior page from that story, the one that began my affection for the JSA. Racing against the clock to locate a poison capsule before it releases its toxins across the city, the JSAers are almost without hope. But after the Flash's pep talk, Green Lantern's fanciful energy constructs, Power Girl's literally blockbuster block busting, and the Huntress's impressive detective work and pugilism, the day is saved (with an assist from Hawkman and Dr. Fate--but they're not on this page...) And for me, well, it set me once and for all on the path of being a comics reader and a JSA fan. And the rest, as they say, is history. Social/Sharing |
