The early-80s America vs. The Justice Society miniseries saw the JSA recount their history before a congressional committee. Here, the Earth-2 Superman recaps one of their headier adventures (itself told in All-Star Squadron Annual #3,) where in 1941 evil sorcerer Ian Karkull dispatched minions to murder nine seemingly unrelated people--as it turned out, the nine presidents who would follow FDR revealed to Karkull through his peering into the timeline. As Kal-L explains, the JSA saved eight of the nine names on the list. But who can say what the timeline would have looked like if that ninth name had been saved, too?

Mike Bair (then going by the name Mike Hernandez) and Alfred Alcala do justice to Roy Thomas's dense text with an elegant layout, atmospheric illustration, and a great figure of Kal-L himself.
