Description

To the best of my knowledge, Larry Stroman never draw Steel, other than this. In my humble opinion, this drawing is proof positive that DC missed a golden opportunity there! The story is that I was at a show and saw Mr. Stroman what appeared to be John Henry walking down some train tracks. My best friend, always better at thinking outside the box than I am, immediately suggested I ask him to draw Steel. I did so, and Mr. Stroman asked for a comic reference. I got it, and he wasn't thrilled with how the helmet accentuated the contours of Steel's lips, ears, etc. Mr. Stroman told me he'd drawn him in the armor, but no helmet. After seeing the finished product, I could care less about a helmet! It's stunning, amazing and rare for me. (I almost always bought sketches of artists drawing their monthly book's lead)
