Description
A very nice action page from the milestone Amazing Spider-Man 800 by the superstar team of Stuart Immonen and Wade Von Grawbadger.

Love or hate it, Dan Slott’s long run on Spider-Man ended on a high mark with the red hot Red Goblin arc.

This was a bit of a feverish buy as I knew I wanted a page from that arc and waited for issue 800’s art to be released. The pages flew off the shelves despite being pricey. I was lucky to get one I truly loved.

This one had many graphic attractions for me.

First, lots of Venom, a character that I love.

Even better, the page is somewhat historic as Peter dons the Venom symbiote once again after years of being separated from it in order to defeat the Red Goblin. A cool and bold move from Mr Slott.

The fist panel is exceptional and splashy. Immonen has always been able to draw him quite freaky without resorting to a too much grotesque approach (which I also love if done right). You can hear him snarl with badassness :)

Then we have a two panels sequence in which Peter-Venom punches the Red Goblin so hard, he goes through a full building in a very manga-esque action way.

The Venom in the last panel is also super exciting. He looks as he is hissing his dominance on his adversary, much like a predator would owl over his defeated prey. Flash is worrying over Peter in a very dramatic pose and angle.

Plus tons of cross-hatching and nice city backgrounds.

Delighted by this one but it surely could not be my last page from that historic issue, could it? (-TEASE-)

And thus begins the countdown to my 2020 CAF birthday celebration. This is part 1.

Great page, for all of the reasons you state!  I think the whole creative team just nailed this arc and this issue in particular.  Awesomely crafted illustration (and inks!) of this fun and key moment from the event!  Congrats!
