Description

15" x 10" image area. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Batman #311 Page 9 Original Art (DC 1979). Irv Novick and Frank McLaughlin.

Batman tracks a madman after a Gotham nuclear reactor goes critical. Superb images of Dr. Phosphorus only two years after his first appearance.

Irv Novick was one of the best artists of the "Creature of the Night" era of Batman from the early Bronze Age. Novick had worked in comics since the Golden Age, but his work really peaked in the early 1970s when he was a key contributor to Batman and also the main artist on The Flash.
