Iceman (X-Men) #2 pg 6 SPLASH by Nate Stockman (ft Emma Frost/White Queen)

One of 2 splashes I’m posting today featuring a founding X-Men member in Iceman! Always been a fan of the character since watching Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends as a kid, and growing up reading comics, I liked how different artists could take some license with his look and really put their own unique spin on him. Here I’ve got one of my newer favorite artists, Nate Stockman’s, rendition.

I’ve got a couple of other pieces here on CAF by Nate (check ‘em out if you get sec) and always think he’s just got a FUN quality to his work. A lighter feel, and cartoony, accentuated by bright coloring. Here, I like the way he’s busting through the door and how his ice slide is breaking the bottom of the panel border – in general I love that technique in layouts. Makes you feel the impact is so big that the one panel cannot hope to contain it :) I also like Nate’s lines here and where he went thinner/thicker in highlighting the slick/shiny texture of Bobby’s ice form. Having fellow “icy” character Emma Frost charging alongside is a nice bonus.
