DescriptionAlex Ross, Black Terror, cover n 1. Painting-Watercolor, cm 52,2x35.Alex Ross was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1970. He becomes a fan of superheroes after watching an episode of the “Spidey Super Stories” series, a series of short lives in the program for kids “The Electric Company”. When he’s just twelve he seriously thinks about becoming a comic artist while copying draws of artists like George Pérez e Berni Wrightson. His career as a cartoonist begins in 1993 after spending three years at the Academy and after graduating. At the time Marvel Comics Kurt Busiek’s editor examines his works and suggests working on a project for the publishing house together. This project will be conceived as the graphic novel Marvels: the story of the characters of the house of the ideas is seen by the eyes of a common man. This is his debut into the comic world which receives a good response from the public and the critics. In 1995, still working in collaboration with Kurt Busiek, he creates the design of the character and the cover of the series “Astro City”, published by Image Comics. Then, in 1997, he gets reached out to by the DC Comics for whom he realizes the first Annual of the series Sandman Mystery Theatre. After, he realizes another success for the Mark Waid, Kingdom Come’s scenography. This is what consecrates in the comic world. In 1999 Ross is asked to draw four graphic novels dedicated to Superman, Batman, Capitan Marvel e Wonder Woman since it’s the sixty anniversary of the characters. At the end of 2001 he gets back to Marvel: he realizes the subject and the design for the trilogy Terra X, Universe X e Paradise X, written by Jim Krueger and drawn by Doug Braithwaite & Bill Reinhold. With Jim Krueger he creates the mini-series “Justice” for the DC Comics and the series Project Superpowers for the Dynamite Entertainment. In 2004 he draws some scenes of the “Spider-man” film for the opening credits of “Spider-man 2”. In 2008 he then gets back to the Marvel Comics with a team-up called Avengers/Invaders. Ross also realizes in 2011 the covers for the “Game of Thrones” comics. From 2015 he starts working again with Marvel as a coverist for the series “The Amazing Spider-Man”. In 2016 he works on the covers of “The Avengers” series and then in 2018 on “The Immortal Hulk” ones. Social/Sharing |
