Description

New commission: All-Star Squadron #103, art by John "Joltin' Johnny" Lucas, homaging as always the cover of a comic written, plotted or scripted by Roy Thomas, in this case Avengers #78, original art by John Buscema and Tom Palmer.

Title: "Who's Next?"

Story - the Monster Society continue their assault on the All-Star Squadron, following Mr Mind's plan to tackle heroes who they haven't faced before. This time, Mr Who - using his Z-Solution which increases his size, strength and invulnerability - takes out both Commander Steel and Amazing Man; Oom and Nyola team up to defeat Bulletman and Bulletgirl; also in Fawcett City, Mr Mind crashes a meeting of Minuteman, Spy Smasher and Commando Yank and captures the three heroes; elsewhere, the Dummy is victorious over the Atom; Ramulus uses his Tendrils Of Terror to immobilise Wildcat; and the Buzzard pummels the Vigilante into submission.

The Monster Society's assault will continue next issue! (In fact, it already has done, since I posted #104 a few weeks ago).

I wanted to get John to do one of these covers, even though his art is a bit more stylised than some of the other artists I use, and I thought he'd be a good fit for the grotesque villains of the Monster Society. Hope you agree with me that I was right!
