This is a copy of the Captain America part of the Cap/Falcon plate from the 1975 Marvel calendar. The original Romita-inked version was used many times for promotional art.

So that gets it a little closer - now was it used and what for? From my experience years ago helping with licensing in advertising- it was not uncommon for reference materials from companies to be re-inked when they were used in an ad or packaging

Also the tone of the background dropped out in the scanning process (or I removed it when I used it for a CBG article years ago- have had this since the 1990s) - the art is not trimmed but fills a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of vellum- need to do a color scan tha t catches the tone of the vellum all the way across.

I got in contact with Bill Black who did the inking. He did not remember what it was used for and stated that it could have been for a fanzine, could have been an inking test or possibly for some other use.
