DescriptionI’ve had this one for a bit but I felt compelled to post as my son was watching the first Guardians earlier and I’d kinda forgotten how good Dave Bautista as Drax was :)I’ve become a big fan of Scott Hepburn’s. Posted a Black Panther vs. Klaw commission earlier this year, got this cover here, and just picked up some newer interiors, too – will be posting soon! There’s a natural vibrant energy to his work and there are certain books, like those featuring planet hopping space fare, where his dynamic style just works! This is the cover to the final issue of Drax, which was the run that made me first take notice of Scott’s stuff. Here, got his unique looking Drax looking mean and determined as ever, even with arrows, a ninja star, and a knife stabbing him :) Kind of reminds me of Conan in that regard. I felt this image captured well the essence of the character (the Destroyer!) which I personally really like in comic art. He’s aboard Fin Fang Foom here, who’s also taking his share of damage, and I really liked how his brow and eye particularly add a real 3D effect to the image. And you can tell he ain’t happy. As always thanks for looking and stay tuned for more Hepburn goodness! Social/Sharing |

What a fantastic image, and so beautifully drawn. Art everywhere!! That closeup of Fin Fang Foom is amazing (don't ya just hate it when you get blood in your eye from a ninja star?). They both have been through the wringer, but you know that is just making them more pissed off. Great addition!!

Love this cover! As you mention, Hepburn does a great job making his work really pop and almost feel three dimensional. I'm excited to see what he works on next after I discovered him through his recent run on Cosmic Ghost Rider.

Thanks, Rob - much appreciated as you happen to have just a few nice Hepburn covers yourself ;) Scott continues to get better and better and I too am eager to see what's next. Thanks again, and all, for the comments!

The Space Hand, maybe? Whoever it is, apparently "not too quick on the uptake". Your comment, and the fact that a dragon was involved, made me think of that line from Meet the Parents - check 1:02 in for about 15 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG1-ZENRH3A :) Thanks for the add, man!

Little known fact. Foom always keeps ninja stars in his oversized trunks. I mean where else would he carry them? Not like he has a utility belt.

I just realized I didn't leave comment on your page. And you do,on a lot of mine. Shame on me man.
And your comments r always just perfect.
Even as a fan of the Gotg I never read Drax books, and your story compelled me to, thx for that my friend. That page is really beautiful, and now that I will read it, maybe I will look for one myself...

Hey, brother, no worries! I enjoy commenting and noting what I like about other collectors' pieces...and it's easy with a lot of the stuff you post :) And thanks for the kudos on my Drax cover! As far as "cosmic" Marvel, I'm in and out of different stories, but I really like Hepburn's work. Check out Rob R's CGR covers for more nice examples!

Talk about up close and personal! You gotta love all those weapons still embedded in both, well unless you are either Drax of Fin Fang Foom. Just love it. Congrats.

Whoa! Finning-fanging-fantastic piece, K! So much energy here - lots of visual texture to bring home the point (so to speak) that Drax will take on most anything with anything and everything he can find at hand. The throwing stars embedded in everything look more to me like a cartoonist's shorthand for a large hit or a "stunned" character (you know what I mean - stars, birds, swirls, etc.) and I love thinking that (in a 'break-the-fourth-wall' kind of moment) Drax would have even grabbed a comic book storytelling device to try and impale something with it. Super cool cover, K G, and I'm with F M - that FFF eye is crazy awesome.

Never saw the "stunned" thing but do now, lol! Fun stuff. Just goes to show no matter how long you have a piece there's more to see :) Speaking of "see", yup, that eye is piercing! Thanks for the add, man - still dig this one a lot!
