Description
The digest size Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine with it's covers trending away from the realistic lurid approach of the pulps towards a more illustrative approach to mystery related images. While there were fewer endangered blondes on EQMM covers there was often just as much mayhem - lots of corpses and murders but done in a more subtle fashion. End result was Ellery Queens magazine for years edited by Frederic Dannay has outlived all of its pulp and even the other digest competitors. Still published today, it is the longest lived mystery magazine in America. This cover is common to the the type of art they used in the 1950's. Though at various points in the magazine's history they eschewed art completely for the cover and just ran a list of the stories that were within.
