DescriptionWhen Giant Robot Gallery announced they were going to be having their show Rakugaki 2 online my first thought was I might finally have a chance at getting a piece by Audrey Kawasaki. I emailed about receiving the preview when it was available and waited. Well wouldn’t you know it, I received the preview when I was outside working and didn’t see it until 4 hours later. Well I knew Audrey’s pieces had more than likely already sold since they always sell immediately so I didn’t even bother to inquire. I had perused the preview but it wasn’t like previews I’m used to getting. Everything was in folders by the artist so I quickly checked the artists I was interested in and didn’t think much about any others since I had my mind set on a piece by Audrey.Well the show officially went live on the website at 9:30PM EST on April 4th. It completely slipped my mind and I wasn’t reminded until I was going through my Instagram feed at a little after 10. I decided to check it out and as I suspected her pieces had sold already. I checked out the rest of the art and there was one piece that stuck out to me. It was Kent Williams’ “Looking On”. I had seen the piece in the preview but hadn’t paid that close of attention to see how beautiful it truly was. I was so fixated on a piece by Audrey that I had completely overlooked this beauty. Well I immediately decided I had to have it in my collection. I know I just picked up a piece by Kent but I always feel bad when I don’t directly support the artist so I made up for it with this piece. Kent’s art is always stunning and this “doodle” is no exception. His style is so intriguing. Each line and brush stroke is so dynamic. Her expression is perfect. It’s beautiful but also mysterious. I love her freckles and the use of color to add a little pop to the wonderful line work. If you look closely at the bottom right you can see he had signed the piece but decided he wasn’t finished yet and added some more hair. Just another outstanding piece from this amazing artist that I am thrilled to have in my collection. Size 8.5" x 11" Social/Sharing |
