DescriptionMemorial Day, Monday, May 25,2020 A "pissoir" is a public urinal in France. OK, enough for today's French lesson. The most notable thing about this piece is that it looks to be signed Cardi (right side), maybe the first time Nick used that name ?? Cardi is the name Nick used for his "post comics" commercial work. There are no borders on the art, the signature goes right up to the edge. Published in Nick Cardy: The Artist at War, page 120. This piece appears to be watercolor and ink. Later, the art was varnished. Nick was originally drafted into the 66th Infantry Division, where he redesigned their shoulder patch. Later, Nick was transferred to the Third Armored Division as a tank driver. Acquired from Nick's estate via ComicConnect. Social/Sharing |
