DescriptionThis piece is a nice time capsule of some of my favorite things in comics early on in 2019- Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen mini series from Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber and 'Strange Adventures' from Tom King, Mitch Gerads, and Evan Doc Shaner. One of the promo pieces of art by Mitch Gerads for SA was the back cover to Adam Strange's memoir with a photo credit to Jimmy Olsen (attached as additional photo). So my silly fan head cannon asked "what if on the day of that photo shoot, Jimmy 'Borrowed' Adams gear'. I contacted Steve Lieber prior to Emerald City Comiccon (before it was cancelled due to Cover 19), and pitched him this crazy idea. And behold the genius of Steve Lieber! He took that ridiculous idea and delivered one of my favorite commissions ever. I love it down to the checkered socks.Social/Sharing |

This is AWESOME! Outstanding idea, wonderfully realized by Mr. Lieber! His and Matt’s ‘Jimmy Olsen’ was an absolutely singular reading experience (its very own ‘Strange Adventure ‘!), with its mix of cheek and high concept humor, both of which this lovely commission have in spades. Congrats! What a terrific piece!

Thanks for the kind words Jason! I was a little nervous giving that much of a creative brief to someone as seasoned Mr Lieber; and normally keep my requests to character and maybe costume. But a year ago I was really loving both Strange Adventures and Jimmy Olsen; and Mitch Gerads worked in the detail to SA that Jimmy took the author photos for Adam Strange's memoir, so, I asked Steve what he imagined happened at that photoshoot, and this was the result. It is my favorite commission from 2020.
