Congrats! Fantastic pick up! I wish Darwyn was still around. He was a genius, and was a super nice guy to meet. Glad to see this page go to deserving collector. Cheers man and congrats again!
Thanks for the comment, Mr Becker. I regrettably never met Darwyn, but I am continuously fascinated and delighted by his work. His is the only art in the world that makes me want to give it a big warm hug, followed by a laugh and then ask how he makes it look so effortless (if that makes any sense?). This page definitely ended up in the hands of someone that will love it for the rest of their life.
Makes all the sense in the world, actually! And it's a great feeling. Congratulations again :D
A wonderful page with fantastic pacing. Darwyn´s magic is something so special, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the comment, Marc. This Cooke Catwoman page is my favourite piece of art that I own by a long way.
I just visited your gallery and of course I was impressed! I noticed that your Cooke Batman and your Bruce Timm Batman have very similar subjects and senses of motion. It would be continuously fascinated to see them displayed side-by-side.
All the best,
-Patrick
What I love about this page is that you get a Selina in and out of costume. Congrats on winning this!
Thanks for the message. I love that there are both versions of Selina too. This Catwoman page is framed and pride-of-place in my home. I visited your page and saw the Darwyn gem that you just picked up. The 'John' matches its owner. Perfect!
I don't think another Cooke/Allred Catwoman page has popped up at auction since yours, so I definitely had to snag my sketch example especially since "this one had my name written all over it!"
Such a great page of storytelling. It's amazing what Darwyn could capture with such simplicity. It sounds like it's in great hands. Congrats!
