While this isn't a commission I requested from the artist, when my good friend Ron emailed me and told me to click a link and it took me to Dave Coverly's sly and hilarious Speed Bump strip for that day I couldn't help but reach out to Dave and see if I could pick up the original.

If you're unfamiliar with Dave Coverly's strip, Speed Bump, then you are missing something special. It's been running for 25 years and was just featured in it's very own Silver Anniversary Hardcover from IDW Publishing. In the spirit of the great one panel comic strips if cartoon history Dave is able to take sometimes complex situations (and really simple ones) and boil them down to one hilarious and poignant panel that tells a story cleanly and without anything wasted.

So when I saw "Piñata Hunter" (My Title For It NOT Dave's) I knew I had to have it.

This strip is featured on page 187 of the new IDW Hardcover Anniversary edition, in addition to being his strip of the day for May 16th, 2019

Many thanks to Dave for letting this one go and to Ron for pointing it out to me in the first place.

I think he jsut won a major NCS award for 2022- he lives not far away in Ann Arbor
