Description

New for All-Star August, and another grail piece for me - although artist Lou Manna didn't work directly on the All-Star Squadron title, he did draw the last four issues of the Young All-Stars and most of the second Annual, which gave prominent roles to many of the Squadron - and did a fantastic job here! So...

Latest in my All-Star Squadron Continuation Project commissions - issue #106, art by Lou Manna, based as always on the cover of a comic written, plotted or scripted by Roy Thomas, in this case Infinity Inc #46, original art by Vince Argondezzi and Tony DeZuniga.

Title: "The Garden Of Earthly Demise!"

Story - the six former Young All-Stars (remember, they joined the main team at the end of their series, which coincides with #100 in my project) are meeting at the JSA brownstone, with concerns about their places in the Squadron. While Fury and Dan the Dyna-Mite intend to stay with the team, Neptune Perkins and Tsunami wish to return to California (although Hawkman had decided in Annual #5 that having a full team stationed on the West Coast was unnecessary, they think that a permanent presence would be useful as potential advance warning and first line of defence in the event of a Japanese attack), and Iron Munro wants a leave of absence to look for the missing Tigress. Flying Fox keeps his thoughts to himself, but is considering returning to his native Quontuaka tribe.

However, their ruminations are interrupted by a sneak attack by Ramulus as the Monster Society Of Evil continue their assault on the heroes, and the young stalwarts are subdued after a heroic battle.

Elsewhere, Oom pummels Ibis the Invincible and Dr Occult into submission; the Dummy and Nyola team up to take down Green Arrow and Speedy; the Buzzard defeats the Guardian; Mr Who is victorious in his battle with the Shining Knight and Firebrand; and Mr Mind ambushes Kid Eternity.

The Monster Society will continue their attack on the remaining Squadron members - next issue!
