Description
Patrick Nagel commercial illustration board . Avon Books paperback cover of "The Electronic Olympics, " author Hal Higdon published 1973. SIGNED on art, but not cover. He was uncredited.

Very rare find. The Nagel collecting world didn't seem to know this existed and I was fortunate enough to find it and a proof of the book cover in New York. Believed by many until an earlier piece surfaces to be his first commercial work. See images. The detail is amazing and shows Patrick Nagel's talent at an early age well before he went on to work for Playboy Magazine. He was a master at drawing and line work.

He did very few book covers.
I run PatrickNagelArts on Instagram and sell buy and sell Nagel, Mukai and Robert Blue!
Provenance from the Illustration House in NY many years ago.

Than you Bill. It was pure luck I think to have found it at the Illustration House in New York. Thank goodness it was signed which Nagel often does not but this was so EARLY in his career, otherwise I think it would have never been identified. The book does not credit Pat to my knowledge.
