"For a commission collector, there's nothing better than when an artist just gets it.

Drew Johnson clearly gets it. I don't believe that he and I discussed the fact that both Lara Croft (a.k.a. Tomb Raider) and Shiera Hall (a.k.a. Hawkgirl) are archaeologists, but Drew jumped all over that notion to create a stunning and character-appropriate scenario for these two stalwart heroines.

Who needs Indiana Jones when you've got Lara and Shiera? (Well, Marion Ravenwood might need him. But that's a whole other thing.)

This was my first time inking Drew Johnson. It's my 61st Rankins commission and his 15th CE-themed piece. It was 11"x17" on 2-ply board and inked with my usual marker tools. I believe this is my 1st Hawkgirl commission but it's my 2nd Lara Croft, Tombraider, the first being done by Jim Balent in 2010. I comp0leted this one September 13, 2017.
