I am a big fan of Nate Stockman, and I am a big fan of Laurel Kent, so when I combined the two for a commission, I expected greatness . . . and I got it! I never know what Nate is going to do with any commission idea I give him, but I always love the results. This time he surprised me with an homage to the cover of Superman #1 by Joe Shuster and Leo O'Mealia, which works perfectly for Laurel since she is a descendant of Superman! Nate updated the background to be 30th Century Metropolis, and the background shape to be an Interlac "L" for Laurel. Nate puts real thought into each commission, and it shows. I absolutely love this, and it is my new favorite image of Laurel. Then I sent it over to Simon Gough and asked him to work some coloring magic on it and as usual, he went above and beyond. I love that gorgeous sky with the hint of the sun coming up. And Laurel looks gorgeous! I love the tones in her costume and skin. This commission is yet another example that Nate and Simon go together better than peanut butter and chocolate! Big thanks to both of them!
