Description
This was one of those Common Elements that, when I first thought of the concept, I thought might never get commissioned. Relatively few comics artists excel at likenesses of real-life people, and this would be one of the rare Common Elements in which recognizing the likenesses of the people portrayed would be essential to understanding the connection. But when the phenomenally talented Cat Staggs opened a commission list, I knew I had the perfect artist. And the proof is before you now.

You might need to be of a certain generation to recall the TV sitcom Family Affair," which ran on CBS for five seasons, from 1966 to 1971. The series featured a wealthy bachelor who took in his brother's three children after the brother and his wife were killed in an accident. "Uncle Bill" and his British majordomo, Mr. French, become at first unwilling, but eventually devoted, surrogate parents to the teenaged Catherine, better known as Cissy, and her two irrepressible younger siblings, Jonathan, a.k.a. Jody, and Elizabeth, a.k.a. Buffy.

When Jodie Whittaker was announced to take over the lead role in Doctor Who, I knew right away that her character and Buffy the Vampire Slayer must one day share a Common Elements scenario. And today, they do.

As the Thirteenth Doctor herself would say... "Brilliant!"

This is Common Elements #166.
