Description

It is now obvious, thanks to this drawing, that Tom Wood drew the pencil art for the Elmer Elephant Good Housekeeping page, as verified by the lack of any colored pencil underdrawing. Most of the drawings for the interior pages of the Elmer Elephant book have red pencil underdrawing, which is consistent with Manuel Gonzales being the artist for those pages. The cover of that book, along with a few of the drawings for interior pages without any colored pencil, were done by Wood.
The close up study focusing of Elmer's eyes, which was drawn on the sheet on which the final image appears, was also characteristic of Woods' working method on occasion.
