Description

Joe Matt is a long-time hero of alternative autobiographical comics. While his comic - Peep Show - issues forth in sad dribs and drabs, he supports himself inking and colouring mainstream comics; work that, I'm told, he despises.

This frontispiece, painting lovingly in gouache on the front endpaper of Frank Miller's collected The Dark Knight Sags (Deluxe Edition, 2015), successfully skewers Miller's dolorous reactionary 'masterpiece' AND Matt's peevish, cheapskate and poverty-stricken (through his own choice), life. Made me laugh, anyway.

Great stuff and a novel idea for a commission. Love Joe Matt's work, wish he'd release more of his own stuff!

I know, right? Though, I suppose we all know what Joe is like - terminally lazy - so it may be a long wait...

What a fantastic idea and execution. Very amusing and DKR is still my favourite comic book, despite its overblown imagery. Anything that has cultural signifigance is always mocked. Lol. Considering how right wing Franks work always appears to me I would worry about him showing up at the artists door.
