Description

This is a very curious page from a very curious issue.
As can be seen in the cretids, two artists worked on it ...
The first was obviously Sal Buscema, who was already in charge of the collection from issue 146, replacing John Romita, at that time none other than the future Marvel's Artistic Director. The fact is that, once it was drawn in pencil, it became clear that the usual inkers couldn't ink the page. So it was decided to have John Romita himself (who worked at the Bullpen) to ink the issue.
The decision was so sudden that ... ¡they even forgot to state it in the comic's credits! This can be seen in the original of the splash page owned by Nick Katradis.

http://www.nickkatradis.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=213&ArtistId=1021&Type=5 (I hope Nick doesn't mind me "advertising" his page... ;-) )

Now, let's focus on the page in question ... My page! ;-)

It turns out that when inking it, John Romita disagreed with the graphic narrative solution that Sal Buscema put into practice in panels 5 and 6.
So he decided to draw two new vignettes (which he obviously inked) in order to replace them with the ones drawn by Buscema. In fact, he did not draw on the page itself, but instead decided to cut out the page and join its two panels.
For that reason, panels 5 and 6 are the work of John Romita, both the ink and pencil ...
Final note: a few years ago I was lucky enough to show this original to Sal Buscema himself. When he minimally looked at it ... it didn't take him a second to tell me (pointing to the two vignettes in question), this is not mine!
Yes sir, they were the work of John Romita, ¡although originally he had not even been credited in the comic itself!

Nice page and great detail in your description.  I wonder what is under the Romita panels though?  I've seen this on other pages, but not many.

I would also like to know what Sal Buscema drew!

But because Romita(or someone from the Bullpen) cut the page, it's impossible to know...
