Sorry! Back before I worked at Illustration House and was buying digest art from them, I had heard that Martignette owned this. Actually I saw it in an Illustration magazine ad so I knew he owned it. I was always bummed for years because I knew IH had sold it but I never they had it before it sold. Then years later I heard that John Cosgriff was the one who bought it from IH and then later traded it to Martignette for a Dr. Seuss drawing. So when it came up in auction at HA, nothing was going to stop me from winning it!

Oh, no apology needed. Thsis was auctioned back at a time when I was going crazy and bidding on any and every paperback/digest cover that looked cool. But several years ago I took stock of my collection and decided that if I wasn't going to put them up on my walls, then I would part with them and no longer buy anything new unless I knew I'd hang it. As cool as this one is, and with wall space being at a premium, this one wouldn't have made the cut and I'd likely have sold it by now anyway! Great story of how you ultimately got it though. As to who did this? No guesses, unfortunately.

I originally got this from IH in a multi-piecce deal in the early '90's, then traded it and a few others to Martignette, much to0 my regret. Great piece!

i know the story! you told me! dr. suess was involved as well, right? the digests i'm listing are from that same IH batch.

i was always so bummed when martignette had this listed in his ads way back when i was working at illustration house. i was so happy when it came back up for auction. another time i yelled out loud!
